The church has for centuries played a vital role in the heartbeat of community. It's been known as a safe place for it's constituents and fellow citizens. Its commission far extends the verbal preaching of the gospel, while in serving a community in need; it has been assigned the hands and feet of Jesus. How does that look? In worship. In service. People united for a common cause. One may be equipped in providing food, housing, counseling, youth & senior centers or opening the doors of the church for prayer; whatever the call of your community. When a service-driven church is thriving, it's members are also equipped to thrive.
Thus, members represent community leaders, business owners, local employees, families, teachers, students and tomorrow’s cities. When the church thrives, the people thrive. When the people thrive, the community thrives and gives back to the center (the church) in order to keep the cycle going.
The American Red Cross Emergency Disaster Preparedness have created resources for churches and other business leaders to create effective plans of action, covering everything from Business Preparedness Tools to onsite Blood Drives. When the church thrives, so can its community.
We worship. We serve. As a church disaster preparedness helps us do both.
